Feather Fan Workshop with La Maquina
The beautiful and elegant feather fan traces back to ancient Egypt, where it adorned the palaces of pharaohs as a symbol of power and divinity. Too exquisite to remain hidden, it traveled across time—gracing the hands of ancient Greeks and Romans, weaving its way through East Asia, and eventually becoming a staple of high European fashion during the Renaissance, especially in 16th-century France.
World War I may have paused an era of decadence, but the feather fan’s story was far from over. In the 1920s, it was immortalized by the flapper girls—forever linked to a spirit of playful rebellion and sensual elegance.
Today, the feather fan is a cherished emblem of burlesque, captivating audiences worldwide with its beauty and seduction.
Join us in celebration on Thursday, October 2nd from 7pm to 8pm at Rosewood Theater for a masterclass in the art of fan dance. All non-alcoholic drinks will be half off this month, as we encourage connection and presence.
